Biography

Sharon Gregory studied painting and printmaking at the Alberta College of Art and Design, and Art History at the University of Calgary and Queen’s University in Kingston. In 1999 she obtained her PhD in Art History from the Courtauld Institute, University of London (UK). She has taught courses in Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque art at Queen’s University and at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, and is now Associate Professor in Art History at StFX.Her primary research interest is Italian Renaissance art. She has published several articles on Renaissance prints and book illustrations; on the artist and first art historian, Giorgio Vasari; and on the painters Jacopo Pontormo and Caravaggio. Her book Vasari and the Renaissance Print has recently been published by Ashgate Press, as has a co-edited collection of essays, Inganno -The Art of Deception.
