Prime Minister Trudeau to Open Atlantic Economic Forum

The Brian Mulroney Institute of Government at St. Francis Xavier University is pleased to announce that The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, will open the inaugural Atlantic Economic Forum. The event is taking place from June 19th – 21st in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

On Monday, June 19th at approximately 5:00pm ADT, the Prime Minister will address delegates and speak about Global Change & Inclusive Regional Economic Growth Opportunities for Atlantic Canada. The Prime Minister will be introduced by The Right Honourable Brian Mulroney. Monday night will also feature: Hon. Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship and MP for Central Nova; Hon. Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages, Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and MP for Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe; Hon. Tim Houston, Premier of Nova Scotia; and Hon. Frank McKenna.

Panelists and speakers at the event include all four Atlantic premiers. The premiers will be joined by an impressive roster of business, government and policy leaders from across the region and beyond to connect and discuss economic growth and emerging opportunities in Atlantic Canada, including: Ken Langone, CEO, Invemed, and co-founder of The Home Depot; Annette Verschuren, Chair and CEO of NRStor Inc. and former President, Home Depot Canada; Karen Oldfield, CEO of Nova Scotia Health; Chief Terry Paul, Membertou First Nation; Dr. Sylvain Charlebois, Dalhousie University; Jennifer Wagner, a Breakthrough Energy Fellow based on PEI; Michelle Simms, CEO of Genesis in Newfoundland and Labrador; Dr. Herb Emery, Vaughan Chair in Regional Economics, University of New Brunswick; Andrew Parkin, CEO, Environics; and Kelley Lendsay, CEO, Indigenous Works, among others.
