Today, St. Francis Xavier University (StFX) is pleased to introduce the NSISP Renewable Bursary. Beginning in September 2025, all students entering the university through the Nova Scotia International Student Program (NSISP) will automatically qualify for out-of-province tuition rates. The NSISP Renewable Bursary will offset the International Student Fee, effectively cutting the tuition fee in half.
“We’ve had a wonderful and valued relationship with the NSISP program over the years,” said Dr. Amanda Cockshutt, Academic Vice-President and Provost of StFX.
“I’m thrilled to introduce the NSISP Renewable Bursary that not only recognizes the relationship but also helps address financial accessibility for these students who have already begun, and want to continue, their studies in Nova Scotia,” said Dr. Cockshutt.
This year, international student tuition fees amount to $21,665 before any additional charges. With the new NSISP Renewable Bursary, the tuition fees for NSISP students would have been the same as out-of-province domestic rates of $10,135. Along with this new bursary, NSISP students who meet the minimum entrance average criteria are eligible for StFX's National Entrance Scholarships with a value of up to $12,000 (over 4 years). Major scholarships are awarded separately and cannot be combined with the NSISP Renewable Bursary.
“We’re very happy to receive this news,” says Mike Rossen, President of the Nova Scotia International Student Program. “On behalf of the students in the NSISP program, I would like to thank StFX University for demonstrating their commitment to these students who choose our province for their education.”
