Chaplaincy – X-Ring

X-Ring is one of the highlights of each academic year and of the entire StFX experience, and is held on December 3rd, the Feast of the University's Patron Saint, Francis Xavier.

Held for many years in the University Chapel, the growth of the senior class resulted in 2006 to the need to move the X-Ring Ceremony to a larger venue – the Keating Centre. Despite its relocation, the Ceremony retains a significant importance of spirit in the tradition of our Patron, St. Francis Xavier.

When the X-Ring ceremony was still held in the University Chapel, an important tradition was the tapping of new rings on the wooden pews after all rings had been conferred. This tradition is continued by the placement of a wooden kneeler from the Chapel at the exit of the Keating Centre so that students who have just received their rings can tap them as they leave the ceremony.
