The Marshall Decision @ 25: Honouring the Future of Peace and Friendship Treaties

Please join the Deveau Centre for Indigenous Governance and Social Justice and the Brian Mulroney Institute of Government in commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Supreme Court of Canada's decision in R. v. Marshall [1999].

The 25th anniversary commemoration begins with an opening ceremony on September 16 and continues with Learning Lodges during which Indigenous leaders, lawyers, fishers, scientists, and allies will share their recollections on and reflections of the Marshall case during the day on September 17. Elder Kerry Prosper and special guests will discuss their visions of engaging with Indigenous Knowledges to honour the future implementation and sustainability of the Peace and Friendship Treaties. An evening keynote panel of experts will share their thoughts and perspectives to round out the day's commemorative events.
