Mary Wollstonecraft (1759-97) was a philosopher and an early feminist. Her A Vindication of the Rights of Women presents the earliest philosophical arguments in the liberal tradition for the equal rights of men and women. Dr. Murphy will explain Wollstonecraft's contributions and offer some critical evaluation. This is the third lecture in the annual series of Capstone Lectures from the Humanities Colloquium.
