The StFX Department of English presents "The Thought of the Novel and the Limits of Form: A Symposium on Timothy Bewes’ Free Indirect."

Timothy Bewes’ Free Indirect: The Novel in a Post-Fictional Age (Columbia University Press, 2022), which won the National Book Critics Circle Award for Criticism, offers at once a radical theory of the novel and a philosophical engagement with the question of thought in the contemporary world. Join us for a symposium about this important work with the author and a group of scholars from StFX and other universities.

     With presentations by:
     Dr. Conall Cash (StFX)
     Dr. Michael D’Arcy (StFX)
     Dr. Thomas Laughlin (Acadia)
     Dr. Mathias Nilges (StFX)

And a response from Dr. Timothy Bewes (Brown)

With support from the Frank McKenna Centre for Leadership.
