Admission Requirements

  • An undergrad degree from an accredited university is a requirement for admission into the program. 
  • Normally, applicants will need to have a 70% average.
  • Interviews are required and are offered virtually.
  • Applicants for the elementary stream are required to have 6 undergraduate credits in each of the following:
    • English/French – Six university credit hours in the subject English if your first degree was delivered in English, six university credit hours in the subject French if your first degree was delivered in French.
    • Math – Six university credit hours of mathematics.
    • Science – Six university credit hours of any or a combination of: Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Geology/Earth Science, Oceanography, Physics, Interdisciplinary Studies in Science.
    • Social Studies – Six university credit hours from any or a combination of: Geography, Political Science, Classics, Anthropology, Mi'kmaq Studies, Acadian Studies, History, Law, African Canadian Studies, Sociology, Philosophy, Economics.

Elementary Teachers must prepare to teach a wide range of subject fields due to the nature of the public elementary schools of Nova Scotia.
