French Explore Program

The Explore Program is a 31- to 33-day spring or summer program funded by the Government of Canada which gives students the opportunity to learn and practice their French in a new Canadian city alongside other students.

What will students gain from the program?

  • Learn, improve and build confidence speaking French
  • Gain independence and experience a different culture by living in a new place
  • Build connections with other youth from across Canada
  • Enhance your resumé and increase future job opportunities

Where can I do my placement?

There are many opportunities available in different cities across Canada. Students can visit this link to browse current opportunities. During their placement, students can live on campus or stay with a host family.

Who can apply?

The program is available to all part-time or full-time students who are either Canadian citizens or full-time residents. Unfortunately, the program is not available to those studying in Canada on a student visa.

There are no prior language requirements to be part of the Explore Program. After registration, students’ French proficiency will be evaluated, and they will be assigned to groups based on language abilities. This way, students can learn and practice French alongside others who are at a similar level.

Students can access the application page here. Applications are due by February 27, 2023.
