The Bachelor of Arts and Science in Climate and Environment is an interdisciplinary program that fosters critical thinking and problem solving. You’ll take courses in the arts and sciences, providing you with a wide-ranging perspective on the dynamics of climate and environmental issues.

If you have a passion for the environment and want to learn more about aquatic resources and sustainability, explore the Aquatic Resources Program (AQUA/ISAR/AR) at StFX. AQUA uses an interdisciplinary approach - combining natural and social science perspectives - to motivate student engagement and foster understanding of water resource issues, how water permeates our lives, shapes our world, and sustains living organisms. Students majoring in Aquatic Resources may complete a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree.

As one of the few universities in North America offering the study of Celtic languages, literature, and history of the Celts from about 800 BC to present, you will have unique opportunity to learn in this broad field at either the BA or MA level. It extends into a range of topics, including archaeology, art, music, literature, folklore, religion, dance, immigration, ethnic and medieval studies.

Classical Studies explores the influence of Greek and Roman culture throughout the centuries. The study of classical literature is a companion and tool to all other liberal arts courses; StFX’s dedicated humanities professors understand this and are committed to helping you grasp their culture and traditions in philosophy, theology, literature, art, and history.

Known simply as the central science, every scientific field necessitates an understanding of chemistry. Chemistry helps broaden our understanding of the world and how it operates. As a StFX Chemistry student, you will evolve academically under the instruction of award-winning professors who will work closely with you to help achieve your goals and create an exciting learning environment.

Through hands-on learning in the classroom and field, the StFX Earth and Environmental Sciences Department will help you follow your passion to learn about the natural processes that have shaped Earth’s evolution for over 4.6 billion years and continue to influence its modern environment.

Our interdisciplinary program grows out of the Antigonish Movement, a social and economic movement grounded in community-based development and the global outreach of the Coady International Institute. Inspired by this rich tradition, Development Studies fosters critical thinking while providing opportunities to put theories of social and climate justice into practice. A Development Studies degree empowers you with the knowledge and leadership skills to help create a better world.

The English Department at StFX is characterized by an effort to fuse current research with excellence in teaching to offer students courses and degree patterns that foreground the historical diversity and contemporary value of the broad skill set an English degree offers. With English, students can develop their communication, research, and writing skills all through the lens of fascinating literature across a host of periods, genres, and mediums.

This five-year, two-degree option provides an opportunity for students to study business and nutrition. The business component focuses on the study and practice of entrepreneurship and the nutrition component focuses on food and nutrition science.

Entrepreneurship is a dynamic program. Students develop new venture plans and pitches, social ventures, and global initiatives. Our students participate in pitch competitions at Schwartz and abroad to develop their business models, raise financing, and network with industry.

Enterprise Systems are large and sophisticated IT systems that support the key business activities, information, technology, and data requirements of an entire organization. Enterprise Systems are comprised of state-of-the-art technologies used by large global companies, such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Business Intelligence, and Artificial Intelligence.

Mathematics is the science of structure, order and relation. It deals with logical quantitative reasoning. Statistics is the science and art of data collection and analysis. It deals with estimation, hypothesis testing and decision making. At StFX, you may undertake studies that focus on either or both fields. 

The Master of Education program is grounded in two main purposes: (a) to provide a space for you to understand your professional knowledge; and (b) to make meaningful links between this knowledge and the conceptual and theoretical framework of educational research.

Along with Acadia University and Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU), StFX is pleased to offer a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Educational Studies.
