The StFX Human Nutrition program prepares students for a variety of careers including dietetics, education, research and graduate studies, health care/medicine, and others. Students can accumulate credits for “teachable subjects” and may apply for Bachelor of Education programs upon completion of the degree.
Students who wish to transfer to the StFX Human Nutrition program from other universities, or who have accumulated course credits elsewhere, may have their credits assessed for equivalency. Please see admission requirements for transfer students.
StFX University has agreements with Cape Breton University (CBU) and University of New Brunswick Saint John (UNBSJ) that enable students to complete the first two years of their Nutrition degrees (60 credits) at those universities, then transfer to StFX to complete the third and fourth years of degree, including courses required for dietetics. Students completing these pathways are eligible to apply for the Integrated Dietetics Internship (IDI) at StFX and dietetic practicum programs at other universities.
We appreciate students bringing diverse learning experiences to the program and aim to facilitate smooth entry. Potential applicants are encouraged to contact the department chair to discuss further.
