Frequently Asked Questions
Processes
I am a retailer interested in carrying StFX product. What do I need to do?
First, we’d recommend reviewing our list of licensed vendors to see if any of them are suitable for your needs. Review the full list of our licensees here.
If you select an unlicensed vendor, they must become licensed before they can produce any products for you.
If my product is going to be resold, do I still have to select a licensed vendor?
Regardless of whether a product is intended for resale or as a giveaway, it must be produced by a licensed vendor.
For a full list of our current licensees, go to the StFX Licensed Vendors page.
What royalty payments are required?
Royalty fees of 7% will be collected if the product you manufacture is being sold directly to StFX University (StFX Store, Departments, Houses, Societies) or 10% will be collected if the product you manufacture is being sold directly to the public by your company. Licensees are required to report and pay royalties to StFX University on a quarterly basis. A retail outlet that did not produce the product being sold is responsible to pay a royalty of 7%. Royalties from licensed products help support the mission, purpose and students across the university spectrum.
I am a department wanting to print items for our internal use. Do I need to work with a licensed vendor?
Printing is not an item that falls under the licensing program, but the use of marks does require approval. All print projects for StFX are handled by the University’s Communications and Marketing Department. Please contact them to begin your project discussions. There are established procedures for departments to order letterhead, envelopes, note pads and business cards.

I have a design that has been used in the past. Do I still need to submit it for approval?
Orders need to be submitted and approved annually. Reorders within the same year are acceptable. StFX’s brand standard continues to evolve, and it is important to ensure that licensees continue to meet these standards.

When must a licensed vendor get artwork approved?
